In 1983 as the “Southeast Minnesota Private Industry Council”

What services are offered?
WDI is a private, nonprofit agency that connects people with the resources they need to gain meaningful employment.

For individuals, our services include assessment, career planning, skills training, job search guidance and resources, and preparation for further training and education. We also offer scholarships and connections to many other great programs and resources in Southeast Minnesota. We work with every population in the region from youth to adults to dislocated workers and employers. Focus is dedicated to working with communities and individuals who face multiple barriers to meaningful and living-wage employment.

For businesses, WDI can provide recruitment assistance, local labor market information, best practices, tips for retention, staff training, and much more. We can also help employers manage the transition for dislocated employees and create opportunities for workers with disabilities across Southeast Minnesota.

WDI is here to connect people with opportunities. Our services are completely free, and we provide personalized support to help individuals navigate their career and training goals. With strong regional partnerships, we make it easy to access the right resources quickly. Whether you need job training, career guidance, or connections to other services, we’re here to help you move forward.

What do you like about having a business in Spring Valley?
We don’t have an office in Spring Valley, but we cover all of Fillmore County! With 10 locations across Southeast Minnesota and virtual services available, we make it easy to connect—whether in person or online.

We currently have over 80 funding sources! Because of this, we have the flexibility to find the right solutions to say & “yes” to your needs.

Business originally started as Graskamp insurance in 1976 and then I purchased the agency about in 1998

What services are offered?
Home, auto, commercial, farm, life and health insurance

What do you want people to know about your business?
As an independent agency I work with different companies to try to find the best match.

How many employees?
Myself and two part-time employees.

What do you like about having a business in Spring Valley?
There are many organizations a person can join like the Kiwanis, Chamber, and S.V. business alliance to give back and help the community.

Fun fact about your business?
Before I purchased my present location, I started out in the the small building owned by the VFW, then moved to where Rusty Hellickson has his deer processing, and then moved to where H+R Block is now.

Ody’s Country Meats

When were you established?
Cody bought the business in July of 2011 although it has been here since 1979.

What services are offered?
Custom meat processing (Beef, hogs, and sheep), full retail meat sales, and catering. We also sell Green Mountain grills and supplies.

What do you want people to know about your business?
We are a small family owned business. We value our customers and strive to exceed their expectations. We make a lot of the products sold here ourselves including 13 different flavors of brats, 10 flavors of jerky, 20 plus flavors of beef sticks, dried beef, summer sausage and more!

10, including full and part time employees.

What do you like about having a business in Spring Valley?
The people! Many of our customers are “regulars” and it’s always fun to visit with them as well as meeting the new customers that stop in.

Fun fact about your business?
We make our very own Ody’s seasoning blend. We sell it but also use it in many of our catering dishes and for personal use 😊

What we want people to know about our business: HD Construction is a licensed and insured contractor that is locally owned by Hunter Irish and Dallas Smith. We offer many different services and are able to help with any remodel project you may have.

What we like about having a business in Spring Valley:
Having a business in Spring Valley has been amazing these past four years. It’s great being able to work in this community and continue to grow our business here. Watching this community continue to grow and bring more new businesses these past few years really shows that Spring Valley is thriving and will continue to for a long time. We are proud to be a part of it!
